Set Up Your Workspace

Get ready to create your Project Description & Leader Profile

All of my mentoring students work with me using Google Docs and Sheets inside of Google Drive. I chose this platform because it is free, yet allows us to draft and edit documents together in real time. Whether or not you are my student, I recommend that you use Google Docs and Sheets to manage your leader resources.

Action Steps

1. Set up your Google Account

To use Google Docs and Sheets inside of Google Drive, you must first have a Google Account. If you use Gmail, you already have one. If you don’t already have a Google Account, don’t worry. You don’t need to create a Gmail account to use Google Drive. You can use your existing email address.

Go to accounts.google.com to set up a new Google Account with your existing email address. First, Google will likely ask you some personal questions 😊. After that, you’ll land on a page where you can select to use your own email address.

2. Set up your Project Folder in Google Drive

Once you have a Google Account, go to drive.google.com and create a folder with the name of your project. If you are one of my students, please share the folder with me and give me editor privileges.

3. Access the Project Description and Leader Profile templates

All of my training templates are public to make it easy for you to get started. Click the button below to access the training templates for this guide, Your Leader State.

4. Copy the templates to your own folder

  1. Browse the above folder and select the files you want to copy.
  2. Right-click on a file (or use ⌘/Ctrl + Click to select multiple files).
  3. Choose “Make a copy” from the menu.
  4. Google Drive will create a copy with the name “Copy of [filename]”.
  5. The copy is saved in your own “My Drive”.
  6. Go to your own Google Drive web page and drag your copies into the shared folder you just created within your Drive.

✅ Notes:

  • You must be logged in to your Google account.
  • This works best on a desktop of laptop (recommended). On a mobile device or tablet, use the desktop site or the Google Drive app with limited functionality.
  • You cannot copy entire folders at once in Drive’s web interface — copy files individually or in bulk.
